Daniela Silva (she/they) is a member of the Advisory Council of BG Media. She currently works as a Community Engagement Specialist with Equity Action, a Political Action Committee (PAC) focused on centering equity and justice in Austin’s political system,  and as Festival Coordinator for Earth Day Austin.

In 2022, Daniela was a candidate for Austin City Council in District 3 and in previous years, worked in the nonprofit food access space. 

She serves on the Hispanic/Latino Quality of Life Resource Advisory Commission, is a member of the community organization Community Resilience Trust, serves as a Big in Big Brothers Big Sisters, sits on the Steering Committee for the GAVA-led East Austin Grocery Cooperative, and is an active participant in the Inclement Weather Working Group hosted by ECHO.

Daniela founded the group Daughters of the Diaspora, which is a community for people who identify as women of the Global Majority to participate in community-oriented events.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, she has B.S. in Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications with a minor in Political Science and a M.S. in International Development.

Daniela is the daughter of an immigrant, member of the LGBTQIA+ community, dog mom, and outdoor enthusiast.
