The bipartisan bill includes more than $50 billion in incentives for manufacturers of semiconductors, or chips, to build domestic semiconductor plants.
The semiconductor industry has had significant and growing presence in Austin and Central Texas for over 30 years.
This includes Samsung's 2021 announcement to build at $17 billion semiconductor factory in Taylor. And recently last month the company filing paperwork with the state suggesting it could build 11 chip-making facilities in the Austin area over the next two decades.
